Being an aunt is one of my favorite things. Having a dog this cute is another.
Bob and Louise...68 years and he still buys her teddy bears.
We can't have flowers without rain.
I love surrounding myself with plants. I enjoy the beauty they add to my home and for me, it's a treat taking care of them. Watching a tiny plant grow and change gives me a weird sort of satisfaction. I talk to my plants, most have names like Big Bertha and Wild Child.
Recently scientist have discovered plants have an intense way of communicating with each other. They can warn one another of danger from pests. They can then prepare for an attack by emitting toxins. Fascinating isn't it?
This past weekend I took a walk through one of my favorite parks. I stopped a couple of times to take pictures of some of the freshly bloomed flowers and buds with my iPhone. When I got home I played with them with a few of my favorite apps. An hour later I had some pretty cool images. Here are a few.
The creator gathered all of creation and said,
"I want to hide something from the humans until they are ready for it. It is the realization that they create their own reality".
The Eagle said, "Give it to me, i will take it to the moon".
The creator said, "No, one day they will go there and find it".
The salmon said, "I will bury it at the bottom of the ocean".
The creator said, " No they will go there too".
The buffalo said, "I will bury it on the great plains".
The creator said, " No, they will cut the skin of the Earth and find it even there".
Grandmother mole, who lives in the breast of Mother earth, and who has no physical eyes but sees with spiritual eyes said, "Put it inside of them".
And the creator said, "It is done!"
There is no greater feeling than love.
A little girl's reaction to rain...This one will melt your heart.
"The woman who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The woman who walks alone is likely to find herself in places no one has ever been before."
I stumbled upon the first video via my facebook feed. I was immediately obsessed. Kawehi, the artist behind the video is talented beyond belief. I think what draws me in most is her drive and attitude. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing people put their heart into their work. I admire the determination it must have taken for her to get to this point in her career. It is inspiring. Visit her YouTube page for more videos.
I was browsing half price books when I stumbled upon Broken Wings by Kahil Gibran. I read it in a night, and it left me in tears. Though it is a tragic love story, it makes you really appreciate love. It's the one feeling that inspite of the pain we know it can ensue, we still long for it, live for it, and give it freely with no regards because the pleasure it fills our lives within so much greater. In the book he tells the story of meeting his one true love, how it opened his eyes to a new world, and how it tears him apart not being able to be with her. His eloquent way of writing puts you right there with him, feeling his pleasures and pain. In my life I have known deep love and lost deep love. Both impacted me in a way I will never regret. This book is a beautiful read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
This one tugged hard at my heart strings. Film maker Tatia Pllieva got 20 strangers together and coupled them up. She asked them to kiss. What happened next was beautiful. Watch here.
"There will never be another one like you, they will never be another one who can do the things you do."
I am a die hard listener to Joe Rogan's podcast. I listen to it all night while editing photos. It's always educational and funny and for me it's like hanging out with friends. This episode is one of my favorites. Joe and his guests Aubrey Marcus and Robert Greene really get into the process of finding what it is in life you are meant to do through a lot of hard work and experiences.
One of my favorite quotes was from Joe, he said "you can't make steel without fire". They discuss how people are looking for instant gratification, but you must go through lows to really appreciate the highs. I couldn't agree more. If you work hard, and dedicate yourself to whatever it is you want to do, what truly makes you happy, your work will reflect that and you will feel more fulfilled. But, it won't come without the work both on yourself and your skills. That's the part many people want to skip, but for me this is the most important part of the process. It's here that you grow and learn.
